THE ALCHEMIST

Tarek’s cooking style takes cues from his Chinese-Canadian and Tunisian heritage in both flavors and the mixing of cuisines and concepts. Like an alchemist, his specialty is combining unlikely elements and transforming them to produce fantastic results. 


He is East meets East, with a West Coast attitude. 
Although he loves to draw from a multitude of cooking styles and ingredients, Tarek fell in love with Japanese food culture while touring the country. Being born and raised in Vancouver, he saw parallels between his food experiences at home and the diverse regional cuisine of Japan. This ignited a deep fascination that strongly influenced his cooking and creativity. 


Chef Tarek loves to chat, so make sure you spark up a conversation with him about your favorite food and dishes. Chances are you’ll find him pressing and torching sushi at some point, as he will use the blowtorch whenever he has the chance.
